FAQ's

How do I get started?

Just call us to book in for a complimentary health & fitness assessment, or email us and we will send you a voucher.

How often should I exercise?

As a beginner, three exercise sessions a week is sufficient in order to see benefits. These sessions can be a mix of training with us and training on your own. Your sessions with us will involve a combination of resistance and cardiovascular training, tailored to your fitness level and goals. The intensity of your sessions will increase over time as your fitness improves.

I need to lose weight – do you offer any programs for weight loss?

All our sessions are tailored to meet your own personal goals. If your goal is to lose weight, we’ll help you do so in a safe and long-lasting way.

How long will it take to start to see results?

The moment you start an exercise program you will start to gain benefits including increased energy, increased circulation and burning calories. Visible results such as losing cms and increasing strength and fitness will take, on average, 4-6 weeks. With a focus on nutrition and lifestyle changes, as well as exercise, you’ll feel and see continual improvements.

How do I know if I need a personal trainer?

A personal trainer can help to motivate and push you to achieve your goals much faster than you may be able to on your own. Plus, it’s a lot more fun to have someone to train with!

Do you offer nutrition advice?

All of our trainers are educated in the field of nutrition and will be able to assess and recommend ways to improve your eating habits. During your PT sessions, your trainer can focus on your specific requirements. In the group sessions, more general nutrition education is provided.

If I have questions, who should I call?

You can always call us at the office. If we are unavailable, we will call you back as soon as we can.

What should I bring with me when I work out?

Comfortable clothing and good training shoes are essential. You should always bring a towel and/or mat, and water to rehydrate.

What happens when it rains?

We have access to indoor and undercover areas, so you won’t miss out on your session no matter what the skies are doing!

What happens in the middle of summer when it is very hot?

We’ll find shady areas for you to train in, and provide sunscreen if you forget to bring your own. It is essential that you drink lots of water before and after these sessions.

What happens at night when it is dark?

We’ll train at areas that are well lit, so that it is safe and fun to continue you sessions during the darker winter months.

Where do I meet my trainer?

All sessions start and finish at the Jump Start office on Cammeray Road. Your trainer will take you to one of a number of parks, and bring you back at the end of the session.

What types of sessions do you offer?

We offer a variety of session types: Personal Training, where it’s just you and your trainer; Buddy Training sessions, where you can train with a friend, or we can match you up with someone; or small group training, where you can train with other people in groups no larger than 5 people. All the sessions – whether with others or on your own – will be tailored to suit your goals and fitness level. We also have Mums with Bubs groups, a Running club, and courses in Boxing, Kickboxing, Yoga, Pilates, and BodyStretch.

I want to tone and strengthen my muscles. Will I be able to achieve this even though it's outdoors without the use of a gym?

Of course, we have resistance bands and use body weight exercises which can have just as effective result as training in a gym. Your trainer will show you how!
