I have so many corporate functions to go to this time of year, that I often get to Christmas feeling disgusting. This time though, I have lost cm’s from around my hips, my clothes feel loose again, and I feel trim, taught and terrific – the first time in years!”

Oh and I forgot to mention its been a whole heap of fun!
I have really enjoyed being outdoors in the group environment, and boxing with a partner gives you the motivation
to keep going through some of the tougher routines.
I will be definitely renewing my pack, as the Jump Start instructors are able to design the program
for all fitness levels, and I feel terrific for the entire day.”

Michelle, our teacher is so warm, smiley, skilled and patient, and she is able to challenge all of us to our individual limit. I love being outdoors in the fresh air, and hearing the birds chirping while I continue to improve.
Thanks Jump Start, you have really made a difference to my life.”

I really only wanted to start Yoga, to gain some extra suppleness in my tight hamstrings, but ever since that first class where Meggan's voice had enfolded me and the morning Sun brushed my closed eyelids, I knew that I would be gaining more.
You know how it is. You labour in what is supposedly a nine to five job, and outside that you want time for yourself to relax and chill. The easiest place to escape is in front of the TV or reading a book. However, no matter how much 'chilling' and 'relaxing' you do, that nine to five remains the same unending list of tasks, meetings and negotiations. What if you could alter the 'nine to fives' in our lives?
Well, I won't lie to you and say that my job has become as chilled and relaxed as sitting on the sofa, but it definitely has changed. A new sense of awareness has come to my work day, in which I can see when I am just spinning wheels. Now, rather than getting worked up when things aren't progressing as I wish, I am better able to see what is within my power to fix now, and what is out of my hands.
Spending those 60 minutes each week, stretching, focussing on my breath, widening my awareness has given me many more hours in the week. Meggan's classes are not what you might expect. It is not about tying ourselves in knots, they involve poses chosen to be challenging enough for us to experience ... US. I truly recommend that you join us on Friday mornings at Jump Start.

I started exercising with Jump Start when my now two year old, Lockie, was just seven months old. Jump Start appealed, as I would far prefer to be outside to exercise plus I would be doing so with other mum’s and thus make friends ‘in the same boat’.
Owing to the friendliness and professionalism of all the Jump Staff team, I have since then enjoyed training with them three to four times a week. After a little while I was delighted to see my fitness return and the weight drop off. Only to fall pregnant again!
I continued training at the same frequency throughout my pregnancy and felt great as the trainers modified the intensity and altered the exercises to suit my progressing condition. In fact my last training session was the day before I gave birth to my daughter Charlie. It was an easy birth and I am convinced this was in part due to the regular exercise with Jump Start. I was back doing modified exercise with Jump Start when Charlie was just six weeks old, feeling great, and now that she is ten weeks old I look forward to getting really back in shape again.
In addition to the obvious benefits of exercise, I have really enjoyed the company of the friends that I have made through ‘Mums with Bubs’ and indeed several of them were at my son’s second birthday party last week – training with Jump Start has become part of my
children’s and my weekly life. As we turn the corner into Cammeray Road my son immediately starts chanting ‘Charlotte, Heather – Hooray!!!’ (the names of two of his little friends from ‘Mums with Bubs’) so I’m not the only one who enjoys it!

Having been a size 10 all my life, four weeks after the birth of my second daughter I found myself a size 14. I decided I needed to take action and Jump Start was the first call I made. After 6 months of training twice a week, I had lost a total of 45cms from all over my body and found my self-esteem and energy levels had soared.
In April 2004 I fell pregnant with my third daughter and decided that I was not going to return to a size 14 post birth. I trained with Jump Start (under a carefully monitored and tailored regime) until my eighth month of pregnancy. My weight was an incredible 5 kg below that of my previous pregnancies. Ava is now six weeks old and I have started training again. I am looking forward to getting back into those size 10 clothes! Thanks again Heidi and all the team at Jump Start.

I first came across JUMP START in Sydney’s Child over 3 years ago. I was struggling with having put on weight after the birth of my daughter, feeling very unfit and feeling generally quite down about myself. Not being an outdoors person, I was unsure, but the initial attraction was that Charlotte could come to the sessions with me, which meant no babysitters needed and no having to leave her in a crèche. I phoned and talked to Heidi who was so positive I decided to give it a go. I don’t think there has been any time at all that I have felt uncomfortable or self conscious about my weight/fitness level while I been training at JUMP START, and considering I am far removed from all the trim bodies of the trainers (and lots of the other members), it is a huge compliment to all that I felt right at home straight away.
Being fairly shy, doing something new doesn’t come easy, especially when it is something different for me and I didn’t know anyone. My first session with Heidi was so positive I felt great. I felt like I could achieve anything if I put my mind (and body) to it. My first ‘exercise’ session the next week, was not with Heidi, so I was a little anxious. No need to be. Bec was (and is) great. It had been a long time since I had done any serious exercise (and then only briefly), but Bec gently pushed me into it and explained the exercises as we went. Training outdoors has been great. Fresh air, a huge variety of parks, steps, walks, exercises, equipment, means that every week brings something new. I can always be assured of a smile, a good workout and great company. I now love being outdoors - even if it is for a short period of time.
Aside from the exercises, Bec is great, always ready for a friendly chat (or whinge/dump) and great with Charlotte. In no time, I was really looking forward to my Wednesdays and Charlotte was too. For a child, routine is everything, and “going to Bec’s” is part of our routine. But more than that, Bec has become our friend and if we miss a week, Charlotte misses Bec. And not just that – Wed is a day where she can catch up with her other friends, Heidi, Ken, Ben………….. not to mention the other Mums and Bubs in the class.
Over the 3 years I have been training, I have been astonished at how well Charlotte has coped and still (at age 3) sits in her pram and loves coming. I have met some of the other trainers since joining, and all are fantastic people, and have become a part of Charlotte’s world too.
I am proud of what I have achieved – in terms of fitness, my major achievement was getting to a point where I could attempt the vitality challenge (and complete it). Weight loss, flexibility, stamina are all up there too. Most of all for me though, is the great sense of achievement when I realise how much better I feel, and am, day to day within myself.

I trained with Jump Start up until a week before my baby was born, which I found to be beneficial not only to my health & fitness, but also to my general wellbeing. Since having my baby, I now train in the ‘Mums with Bubs’ group. Not only have the post natal health & fitness been rewarding, I also found that these groups are a great for providing a support and friends network with the other mums.

I was so surprised that although the Jump Start ‘Run 4 Fun’ club had people of different running abilities, that everyone was so nice and inclusive and encouraging.
It didn’t take too long before I was slimming down and running so much more efficiently.”
Kate Grey, Cammeray
“I knew that I wasn’t fit enough to join a running club, but also needed the challenge of doing more than just walking.
The Jump Start ‘Walk 2 Trot’ club has been the perfect compromise, and apart from feeling fitter and more toned,
I just love the fact that I have done something for myself first thing on a Monday morning.
It really sets me up for the whole week.”
