How long have you been a client of JUMP START?
I joined just before that scary Xmas party period last year
Why did you originally start?
To lose weight and stop that internal voice that was saying “I can do it...I’ll do it tomorrow”.
What do you enjoy best about JUMP START?
The care taken to see that I am achieving what I want to achieve. I have to say, I like being away from that gym environment…..all those eyes in judgement!! I prefer to be the quiet achiever and get some fresh air at the same time. Perhaps I’m not so quiet though when pushing through the pain barrier of that last push-up!! I think it is best I am outside!!
What goals have you achieved?
I can put on a pair of shoes without struggling to tie the laces…some of you out there will know what I mean!! I have lost body fat (76cm in total!!!), I have more energy but most importantly I have the belief, with the help I am getting, that I can achieve a greater weight loss than I have ever been able to achieve on my own. I am enjoying seeing everything tighten up too!!
What types of sessions do you participate in?
I One-on one
Is there anything in particular that has helped you reach your goals?
In the past I have not given myself permission to think about myself. I have a lot of other things in my life which I think are sometimes there to take my mind off how unfit I have been. The time each week at Jump Start has been important to help me refocus. My trainers have helped me a lot with my nutrition; we are constantly working on strategies.
What are your goals for the future?
I cannot see past enjoying further weight loss because with it comes the increased fitness. I am looking forward to returning to playing the sports that I have enjoyed in the past…especially the ones that require continuous running.
Any advice for people thinking of starting a health and fitness program?
Don’t procrastinate, the earlier you join the sooner you will get results. It’s so much easier having someone on your side to turn to when it all seems too hard. Many things haunt you when you are overweight but to know in your subconscious that you are making headway somehow makes them less important.
