How long have you been a client of JUMP START?

2 and a half years

Why did you originally start?

I had taken a year off work and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to rethink my priorities and I pushed health and fitness up the list.

What do you enjoy best about JUMP START?

I love the outdoor aspect – I don’t think I would have lasted at a gym – I think of nothing else for that hour except what I am told to do and I end up feeling totally refreshed and energetic. Ben has been my longest term trainer and he has been very supportive and persuasive with his “iron fist in a velvet glove” approach. Also the camaraderie among the “group victims” is great fun

What goals have you achieved?

To be fitter and thinner. The problem is I now want to be fitter and thinner. Food gets in the way of the thinner bit and there’s always a heavier weight to lift, more repetitions to do, and further to run.

What types of sessions do you participate in?

I started off with PTs and have done groups and buddies. I now mainly do groups and have joined the Running Club on Mondays.

Is there anything in particular that has helped you reach your goals?

Just getting out of bed (even in winter) and getting to Jump Start for 6.15 am sessions is a good start! I think the first Vitality Challenge I did really helped and then committing to Vanuatu last year and training up for that made a big difference.

What are your goals for the future?

To at least maintain my fitness but to also make improvements and hopefully go to Vanuatu again.

Any advice for people thinking of starting a health and fitness program?

Choose an exercise program that you enjoy, make it part of your life, and stick to it.
