How long have you been a client of JUMP START?

On and off since 2002, but weekly since 2005.

Why did you originally start?

I’m a big ‘oink’ when it
comes to food so exercising is essential and I don’t
have the discipline to do it by myself. Also, I ride my
horse competitively and its not fair on him if I’m
gasping for breath half way round the cross country
so can’t give him 100% when he is trying his hardest.

What do you enjoy best about JUMP START?

The fact that if you don’t turn up, you still pay – it gets the scrooge in me every time I feel like not exercising. And that even when I have a bit of me in plaster or in a brace, the trainers aren’t phased and work around it so that at least the rest of you maintains a modicum of fitness.

What goals have you achieved?

Being able to wear swimmers without a burkah over the top. Ditto jodhpurs, the world’s most unforgiving item of clothing. But in fitness terms – I’ve lost 7.5cm in body fat, my flexibility has improved by 10cm, and my strength has improved by 100%.

What types of sessions do you participate in?

What types of sessions do you participate in? Small groups with my trusty training pals David and Tony – which is good for me as I can’t let the boys win and they don’t give me any leeway.

Is there anything in particular that has helped you reach your goals?

That look that Heidi gives you when she has the tape measure in her hand….

What are your goals for the future?

To try and not break any bones in 2009 (this is the 3rd year in a row).

Any advice for people thinking of starting a health and fitness program?

Ask yourself if you know anyone who feels worse for having done so.
