How long have you been a client of JUMP START?
I’ve been with Jump Start for over 3 years now.
Why did you originally start?
I originally started with some group sessions and moved on to the running group. I was new to Sydney and a friend highly recommended Jump Start. For me, it was a great way to meet new people and be involved in some form of activity.
What do you enjoy best about JUMP START?
I love Sydney’s warmer climate and what better way to exercise than being outdoors. Training outdoors with a group of great people is so much better than being confined in a gym. I have seen the inside of many of those. The advice, professionalism and knowledge that Heidi and her staff give, it is so encouraging and beneficial to my training.
What goals have you achieved?
I have achieved many goals with Jump Start, the first one was just to get active and running again. The fun runs have been great with City to Surf, the Bridge runs, the Mosman fun run and my greatest was the Noosa triathlon. Heidi is very clever in turning these ideas or notions into reality.
What types of sessions do you participate in?
At the moment I’m with the Run 4 Fun club every Monday morning, well most if I’m not in Melbourne. On Wednesday I do a one on one session with Manual and Friday I do a group training with 4 other lovely ladies, who have now become very competitive.
Is there anything in particular that has helped you reach your goals?
Manual played a major role in my training and in reaching my goal to compete in a triathlon. His advice on diet and endurance training was so important to reaching a certain level of fitness. His persistent attitude and confidence in my ability kept me going, to achieve my goals. Not to mention the pain and the amount of wall sits I had to do…but overall it was worth while.
What are your goals for the future?
My goals for the future are to maintain my level of fitness as much as possible, to keep running and to enjoy the friends I have made at Jump Start. We will see what’s in store for the year ahead whether Heidi has some more brilliant ideas!!!
Any advice for people thinking of starting a health and fitness program?
My advice to anyone thinking of starting a health and fitness program is to try the outdoor training, I am so sure you will love it. Starting a fitness program is a major stress release and vital to your health. I am at an age where a lot of my friends have heart problems, diabetes and blood pressure. I found being active is food for the brain and body. It helps by making you feel good on the inside and out. The effort and commitment that you make is so beneficial to your well being.
