Why did you originally start?
To get fit & lose weight. I wanted to enjoy walking up hills as much as down!
What do you enjoy best about JUMP START?
I love being outside with a friendly group of people – even if it does involve getting hot& tired! (The best part is lying on your back stretching at the end of the session!!)
What goals have you achieved?
I am much fitter & thinner than I was. And I have also lost 41.5cm. It didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen…. & is ongoing!
What types of sessions do you participate in?
I started with PTs & then buddy training when I got more confident. I now go twice a week to groups.
I have also participated in 2 Vanuatu Round Island Relays, a Vitality Challenge, and social activities, such as the Spit-Manly walk and brunch.
Is there anything in particular that has helped you reach your goals?
The discipline of knowing I have regular Jump Start sessions booked means I always get out & exercise, rather than putting it off for another day!
What are your goals for the future?
I want to improve my fitness & maintain my weight loss.
Any advice for people thinking of starting a health and fitness program?
Don’t be discouraged if it takes longer to reach your goals than you anticipated. The journey with Jump Start is fun as well as being good for your health & well-being. If you stray from the straight & narrow now & then, ie too many Easter eggs – don’t stress – just continue with all your good habits again!!
